Performance

Ian Giles presents an immersive performance drawn from scripted conversations with the activist group which campaigned against the closure of The Joiners Arms, a Queer pub. Through role-play and texts, the play’s participants collectively unpack what a queer space is and could be.

This event is organised by Ryan Kearney, Alice O’Rourke, and Ariadne Tzika from the University of Birmingham, and formed part of the project Three Models for Change, which took place at STRYX in Minerva Works, Digbeth, June 2018.

The performance was the beginning of Giles’ video work Trojan Horse / Rainbow Flag, 2019. More information on the film can be found here.
